folc.ca's comment on HAZCO's answer to FAQ #10

Note: The background text in the following was copied from the Frequently-asked Questions page at HAZCO's website, Nov. 2, 2005.  HAZCO's answers to "frequently asked questions" deserve further comments.  Those comments are inserted where required in HAZCO's text and are shown on yellow background.

From HAZCO's FAQ web page (quoted verbatim):

FAQ #10. How willing would you be to live near this facility?

I’d be very will [sic] to live near this facility because I understand that the facility design, environmental monitoring programs and safe operation of the facility will work together to ensure that there is no impact to human health or the surrounding environment.

Comment:

It must be assumed that the first sentence in that answer was meant to read,

I’d be very willing to live near this facility because I understand that the facility design, environmental monitoring programs and safe operation of the facility will work together to ensure that there is no impact to human health or the surrounding environment.

That is a nice-sounding sentiment, but it does not explain who this "I" is.  Nor does it sound convincing.  After all, it does not appear that there is a rush by HAZCO officials to buy properties adjacent to their proposed site.  If the HAZCO officials are so willing to live right next to their intended site, why don't they?  They should put their money where their mouth is.  Better yet, they should construct the site where they live.
