folc.ca's comment on HAZCO's answer to FAQ #12

Note: The background text in the following was copied from the Frequently-asked Questions page at HAZCO's website, Nov. 2, 2005.  HAZCO's answers to "frequently asked questions" deserve further comments.  Those comments are inserted where required in HAZCO's text and are shown on yellow background.

From HAZCO's FAQ web page (quoted verbatim):

FAQ #12. What’s your reaction to the petition opposing the facility that going around?

It’s not appropriate for us to comment on what others are saying or doing.  Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Hazco encourages open and constructive feedback.  That’s why we’re conducting sessions, holding meetings and in general, making it easy for folks to provide us with their feedback to the project.

Comment:

It is not appropriate for HAZCO to comment on what others are saying or doing?  Is that why they say so little with true meaning?

Certainly, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but it is not opinions we wish to deal with in relation to HAZCO's intentions.  We are dealing with facts, the fact that sulphur is a hazardous material, the fact that HAZCO has absolutely no experience in the handling of sulphur, the fact that their same proposal for two other locations was soundly turned down or met with solid opposition that made HAZCO move its intentions elsewhere, and the fact that HAZCO does not tell everything we need to know in relation to their intended facility in our County.

We can only speculate why HAZCO is so silent and evasive on many issues that concern the residents of the County of Lamont.
