folc.ca's comment on HAZCO's answer to FAQ #30

Note: The background text in the following was copied from the Frequently-asked Questions page at HAZCO's website, Nov. 2, 2005.  HAZCO's answers to "frequently asked questions" deserve further comments.  Those comments are inserted where required in HAZCO's text and are shown on yellow background.

From HAZCO's FAQ web page (quoted verbatim):

FAQ #30. How many full time jobs will this project create?

It is anticipated that 36,000 person hours will be required to build the facility (approximately 40 full time employees).  Once the facility is operational, the site will provide up to 20 full time positions.  It is Hazco’s intent to hire as many local people as possible.

Comment:

The figures for the numbers of employees involved in constructing and operating the HAZCO sulphur-storage and -handling facility have been repeatedly revised upwards by HAZCO.

HAZCO states, "It is Hazco’s intent to hire as many local people as possible," but says nothing about what the criteria are for the hiring of local people.  No advertisements for the hiring of local people have so far been published in our County.  It appears that as of now no local contractors have been asked to put in any bids for any jobs to be done at the HAZCO site.
At any rate, little, if any, of the equipment to be used at the HAZCO site is being manufactured in Alberta or even in Canada.

The answer to FAQ #30 is an exact repetition of the answer to FAQ #7.  More detailed comments in relation to HAZCO's answer to FAQ #7 and to FAQ #30 have been provided at the web page for FAQ #7.
